Picking News
A huge selection of our own veg is being picked daily: sprouts, sprout stalks, parsnips, swedes, carrots, caulis, cabbages, red cabbages, beetroot, globe artichokes, spinach, kale, chard, black Tuscany, onions etc. We are still digging our own bunches of Tom Thumb wallflowers (the Persian Carpet – the larger ones have all been sold). Really lovely strong plants. Only £1.35/ generous bundle of 12 or £2.50 for 2. We are also still digging Rhubarb crowns for planting out. A large crown is £5. Please order to allow us to dig them for you. We have a good stock of 12.5kg of liftable sacks of spuds: Nadines, King Edwards, Desiree, etc.
Ansty Kitchen
Our yummy brandy soaked Christmas Cakes have now been all cooked. Mince pie production is well under way! We’ll see if we can get to the 2000 mark like the past few years!! We have started to make the apple and mincemeat lattice, which is a December favourite. The chocolate puddings seem to be a big hit at the mo: Chocolate Rum Truffle Torte, Chocolate Ganache and Dreamy Chocoholics pud.
Baskets Galore!
The new baskets are arriving this week! Baskets for everything: log baskets, storage baskets, trugs, trays etc. Baskets excellent for making your own hampers with, including, the wood wool filling and hamper decorations.
Christmas Decorations
We have a beautiful range of Christmas Decorations and Napkins! Not forgetting our lovely selection of Christmas Cards in aid of the Salisbury Hospice. Plus festive wreaths, holly and mistletoe.
Farm and Animal News
The early broad beans have been planted. We still need to top off the late strawberry rows. For once, as we go to print, we have no piglets about!! The last 17.3 (it was very cute and runty!) went on to Kimbers last week. It is almost time to put our 2 pedigree sows (Pomme and Dotty) to the boar.
Duck eggs
The ducks are laying well, so we now have a constant supply of fresh eggs for the shop. Large duck eggs are £1.65 / box.
Hens and Bantams
We have some beautiful point of lay bantam pullets for sale: £15 each. A few more laying hens will also be available from the 24th December. Please phone if you are interested: 01747 829072.
Books for Charity
Many thanks to those who are choosing books from our “Books for Charity” basket. We are still on the hunt for a bookcase, so that we can display them well. Ideally we would like a skinny tall one!! Can any one help?!!
